Black Wheat Flour (Kala Gehu) is made from a rare, nutrient-rich variety of wheat known for its deep natural colour. The nutty flavour and rich health benefits makes it ideal for everyday cooking as well as special occasions.
The dark colour of black wheat comes from anthocyanins, natural plant pigments also found in blueberries and other deeply coloured foods.
Why Black Wheat Flour?
Naturally rich in antioxidants
High in anthocyanins, it helps fight free radicals and supports overall immunity and healthy ageing.
Higher iron & zinc content
Contains up to 60% more iron and 35% more zinc than regular wheat flour, supporting energy levels, strength, and vitality.
High dietary fibre
Supports digestion, promotes fullness, and helps with steady energy release through the day.
Low glycemic index
Helps manage blood sugar levels, making it a thoughtful choice for people looking to eat more mindfully, and making it diabetic friendly.
Black wheat is not an “exotic” or “premium” grain. It is a climate-appropriate, nutritionally rich wheat that simply deserves its place back on our plates.

Farm to Plate Journey
Our black wheat is grown by small and marginal farmers in Western Rajasthan, a semi-arid region where crops must work with the land, not against it. This makes black wheat a natural fit for the region’s climate and water realities.
The grain is sourced through Bahula Naturals, a farmer collective rooted in the region. Bahula works directly with farmers, providing agronomy support and assured procurement. Crop choices are based on regional suitability, not market trends or yield pressure.
Once harvested, the wheat is stone-ground by Swadesi Way using a traditional chakki, slowly milled at low temperatures to preserve natural oils, fibre, and the grain’s inherent character.
